Martyrdöd

Martyrdöd has completed recording their new album, Elddop, at Studio Fredman, the follow up to the powerful declaration of political rage that was their 2012-released Southern Lord debut, Paranoia.

The band’s fifth LP is the most emotionally intrusive record from the Swedish four-piece yet. Relentlessly forcing its way into the most obscure corners of the human mind, Elddop challenges the darkness by way of confronting it, and thus already pierces its way through the black, towards spiritual release. The daring 14 song record allows Martyrdöd to elaborate on some of the musical themes and influences that have long characterized their sound. Securely placed in traditional Swedish hardcore punk such as Anti-Cimex, Martyrdöd stands on the shoulders of giants, seeing further, wanting more. Enchanting melodies and Bathory-esque folk music finds a perfect fit in war charged d-beat mayhem.

Martyrdöd recently recruited Fredrik Reinedahl on bass, who has stacked up production and engineering credits for bands, Sólstafir, Abandon, Burst, Crowpath, Dimension Zero, Gadget and Memfis to name a few.

Southern Lord is currently plotting a CD/LP release sometime in August, with a special European version of the vinyl coming out on La Familia and D-beat Raw Punk. Final release dates and details will be released in the near future.

Martyrdöd has also been confirmed to inundate Europe in August, joining Okkultokrati as support for Converge in August, coordinated with the release of Elddop that month. Additional tour actions will be announced throughout the rest of the year.

Made up of some of the crust scene’s top combatants, including members of Agrimonia, Miasmal, Skitsystem, and others, Martyrdöd fuses epic and black metal influences into crust punk, creating an unfathomable darkness to staggering effect on their game-changing In Extremis LP, and the aforementioned Paranoia, which saw them expand their sound with more dynamic leads, empowering dis-harmonies and tension-filled buildups than ever before. The band has built up a brutally-diehard fanbase in the underground, and they are truly unstoppable in the live setting.
